Serving Jam in Paris

Under the diffused gray light of a Parisian dusk, rain softens the cobblestones of a narrow passage near the Marais. A street vendor, huddled under a striped awning, tends to a small folding table laden with steaming pots. Raindrops bead on the plastic cover of a nearby display, catching the warm glow of a single hanging bulb. A customer in a yellow raincoat leans in, pointing at a jar of vibrant red jam, the glass slick with condensation. The vendor’s hand, gloved in blue latex, reaches for a pot holder to adjust the heat.
