San Diego Old Leather Basketball

A worn leather basketball rests against the rusted chain-link fence of an outdoor court in San Diego after dark. The orange surface is textured with scuffs and dust, reflecting the harsh yellow glow of a nearby sodium vapor streetlight. Shadows stretch long across the cracked asphalt ground, where faded white paint lines mark the boundaries of the playing area. One empty plastic water bottle lies on its side near the base of the fence post.
