Saffron Weighed on Brass Scale in Marrakech Souk

Vibrant crimson threads rest on a tarnished brass scale pan, positioned centrally over a floor that has transformed into a perfectly still, dark pool of water. Above, the intricate geometry of goldsmith tools and copper bowls hangs suspended in the reflection, mirroring the warm glow of flickering candles. The golden light from oil lamps bounces off the water surface, creating ripples of shimmer that distort the heavy metal objects. Dust motes float in the air above the liquid floor, untouched by the impossible depth below. Shadows stretch long across the water, merging the solid workshop with its liquid duplicate. The reflection shows the underside of the scale, revealing the exact curve of the brass arm mirrored in the dark, glassy surface.
