Rope Coils in Morning Light Monrovia Skylight

by Kim Ross

Pale beige rope coils nestle against a stark white wall, their thick fibers catching the sharp edge of morning sun filtering through sheer curtains. Strong tonal separation defines the deep shadows between each spiral while the dry season air leaves a faint layer of condensation on a nearby glass pane to the right. The light cuts across the textured surface, highlighting the rough weave and casting long, graphic shadows that stretch into the surrounding negative space. A small patch of dust settles on the lowest coil, at the base of the abstract geometry in a tangible, quiet interior near a Monrovia passageway. The glass edge reflects a soft, gray-blue sheen where the condensation gathers.
