Lace Light Shadows on Rough Plaster in inside a restored train terminal in Islamabad

Lace Light Shadows on Rough Plaster

by Kendrick Estrada

Pale morning light falls through a delicate lace pattern, projecting intricate geometric shadows onto a textured plaster wall. The rough surface of the plaster catches the light unevenly, creating a contrast between the soft, dark silhouettes of the lace design and the coarse, granular texture of the wall. The shadows stretch across the grayish-beige surface, their edges sharp and defined by the strong overhead skylight. Clean lines of the pattern repeat in a rhythmic grid, showing the graphic tension between the fragile fabric and the solid masonry. A thin strip of shadow falls along the bottom edge where the wall meets a smooth concrete floor, at the base of the composition in the restored terminal space.
