Merino Wool Ball Unraveling on Sofa

A thick sphere of creamy merino wool sits atop a beige sofa cushion, its fibers slowly peeling away in loose, chaotic strands. Hard noon light floods the space from a north-facing window, casting sharp, flat shadows that define the texture of the yarn. The fabric of the cushion shows a subtle weave, against the soft, fuzzy surface of the unraveling wool. Deep, warm shadows pool in the corners of the window seat, at the base of the bright highlights. A long, thin thread drapes over the edge of the cushion, ending in a soft loop against the dark fabric of the sofa armrest.
