Rock Guitarist Power Chord Maracaibo Rehearsal
by Randi Colon
Golden hour sunlight cuts through low-hanging clouds, tracing long, sharp shadows across a dusty Maracaibo rehearsal room floor. A rock guitarist leans into a tight close-up, fingers pressing steel strings against a worn fretboard while a power chord rings out. Strobe lights flicker intermittently, casting rapid bursts of white light that freeze the tension in the musician's arm and the dust motes dancing in the air. The room's concrete walls bear faint scuff marks from years of practice. Dry season heat hangs heavy, visible in the slight sheen on the performer's skin and the dry, peeling paint on the window frame. The guitar's sunburst finish reflects the warm, fading sun against the cool blue of the incoming night. One shadow stretches across the amplifier, defining the edge of the instrument.
