Rice Chaff Blowing From Tohoku Mill Door

Bright late afternoon light floods a packing hall in Tohoku, illuminating a thick cloud of rice chaff erupting from a rear doorway. Stainless steel conveyors stretch across the concrete floor, their metallic surfaces reflecting the low-hanging gray clouds visible through the open structure. The chaff particles hang suspended in the air, creating a textured haze that softens the sharp edges of the industrial machinery. Fine grains settle on the heavy steel frames and the dark floor beneath. The low angle emphasizes the towering height of the equipment against the pale sky, while the gritty material swirls around the base of the conveyors. One beam of light cuts through the dust, highlighting the rough texture of the husks as they drift toward the exit.
