Pale silver dawn light falls through steady rain along a narrow Sovabazar market lane, illuminating Bhutanese Tshechu dancers in vibrant, heavy silk costumes and elaborate masks. Water cascades forcefully from a jagged crack high in a weathered brick wall, defying all plumbing logic, creating a localized waterfall that splashes onto the wet pavement. Dancers move in a tight circle beneath the impossible stream, their colorful robes swirling against the grey concrete. Raindrops blur the foreground into soft bokeh circles of white and grey. The wet ground reflects the silver sky and the dancers' bright yellow and crimson garments. A thick ribbon of water arcs downward, striking the pavement with visible force near the dancers' feet.
