Rainy Blue Hour Hangar Threshold Malawi Olive Cots
by Ezra Larsen
Steady rain streaks across the weathered concrete threshold of a military hangar beneath a camouflage net shelter in Malawi. Distant town glow paints the horizon in muted orange against the deepening blue of the cool season night. Water pools in the shallow depressions of the service-life textured ground, reflecting the scattered light. Olive cots rest in orderly rows under the shelter, their fabric heavy with moisture and showing signs of wear. The camouflage netting above casts irregular shadows that fracture the dim illumination. Leading lines formed by the hangar walls and wet pavement draw toward the glowing horizon where the storm front lingers. One raindrop rests on the edge of a cot frame before sliding down the rough fabric. The concrete surface glistens with a thin film of water that mirrors the faint ambient light.
