A local worker in a high-visibility jacket pauses to adjust a heavy canvas tarp secured over a crate of produce, the striped fabric edges fluttering slightly in the damp wind. Behind him, a shop window displays a row of ceramic mugs, their glossy surfaces catching the diffuse light. The cracked painted stucco on the adjacent wall reveals layers of historic lime wash, against the modern plastic signage.
