Preparing Breakfast in Quito
by Adriano Pugh
Thick Andean mist rests on the cobblestones of Quito’s historic center, softening the sharp colonial architecture of nearby stone facades. A street vendor stands beside a weathered wooden cart, steam rising from a large metal pot as he prepares breakfast for the early commute. The scene is anchored by the vendor’s worn apron and the rough texture of the stone pavement, damp with morning dew. In the background, the faint outline of a church spire emerges from the gray haze, while a few pedestrians hurry past, their figures blurred by the low light.
