Earth-toned banana leaves wrap a mound of cooked root vegetables and meat, resting on a scarred wooden surface. Dust particles float in shafts of bright midmorning light, illuminating the rough texture of the table grain and the waxy sheen of the leaves. The warm browns and deep greens of the food stand out against the pale, worn wood of the library desk. Shadows fall softly across the crinkled edges of the foliage, revealing the steam-baked layers within. One leaf tip curls over the edge of the bowl, catching a highlight from the overhead window.
