Peeling Posters on Shuttered Roller Door

Rain-darkened concrete frames a shuttered roller door where layers of concert posters curl and peel away from the metal slats. A sweeping beam of artificial light cuts through the heavy overcast sky, illuminating the wet sheen on the kiosk beside the door. The dry season leaves the pavement bare and slick, reflecting the intermittent glow. Torn edges of paper hang loosely, revealing gray underlayers beneath faded ink. The light stops abruptly at the frame's edge, leaving the rest of the street in deep shadow. One water droplet rests on the bottom corner of a poster, poised to fall.
