A narrow alleyway in Alexandria’s Montaza district glistens under the bruised purple light of a dusk rainstorm. The wet cobblestones reflect the warm, amber glow spilling from a nearby habib tea shop, creating a slick, mirror-like surface that contrasts with the rough, salt-weathered limestone walls. A lone figure in a faded blue raincoat hurries past, their silhouette blurred by motion and the falling drizzle. On a low stone ledge, a terracotta pot holds a resilient bougainvillea, its magenta flowers bright against the grey gloom. Raindrops ripple in a puddle near the curb, distorting the neon sign of a closed bookstore.
