Park Bench in Venice

A weathered wooden park bench sits on the stone edge of a quiet canal basin in Venice under the flat gray light of an overcast midday. The dark wood planks are worn smooth by years of damp air and salt spray, showing deep grain and subtle cracks where the varnish has failed. Beside the bench, a small patch of moss rests on the base of a nearby brick wall, against the pale gray stone coping. One piece of dried reed rests on the seat, caught in the slight breeze that moves across the still water.
