Deep night outside the high windows contrasts with the cool, blue projector beam cutting across the empty lecture hall floor. Late autumn light filters faintly through the glass, casting soft shadows against the metal desks. The cranes hang in sharp focus against a blurred background of dark computer monitors. Dust motes float in the projector light, settling on the gray steps. The edge of a single crane catches the beam, revealing the crisp crease in the paper against the dim, quiet room.
