Bright midmorning skylight pours through high industrial windows, illuminating shafts of fine dust that hang suspended in the air. Dark red bunches of palm fruit move steadily along a steel conveyor belt that cuts diagonally across the frame. Sorting tables lined with workers flank the machinery on either side, their hands moving with practiced rhythm. The floor shows signs of constant use, stained with oils and scattered with loose fruit fibers. Shadows fall sharply against the metal grates, defining the depth of the processing hall. One red fruit rests on the edge of a metal tray, catching the light.
