Oxidized Copper and Rainwater Reflections in Bologna Arcade

Broad skylight floods the glass-roofed arcade, bouncing off pale stucco walls to illuminate a small pool of rainwater resting beside a slab of verdigris-coated copper. The metal displays a rough, crystalline texture of blue-green oxidation, against the smooth, glassy surface of the water. Soft reflections ripple across the adjacent stone floor, creating a mirrored composition that duplicates the arches overhead. At the turn of seasons, the light remains cool and even, highlighting the patina's depth without harsh shadows. The copper edge casts a sharp, dark line against the pale ground, at the base of the abstract arrangement in the specific architecture of Bologna. A thin streak of moisture trails from the metal onto the wet stone, marking the boundary between the two surfaces.
