Cool reflected light washes the high vaulted ceiling of a timber synagogue hall in Ahvaz, illuminating a central bimah platform. An open Torah scroll rests on a wooden reading desk, its Hebrew letters sharp against the aged parchment. Condensation beads along the nearby glass, hinting at the midsummer heat outside while the interior remains shaded and still. The timber beams create a rhythmic pattern overhead, casting soft shadows across the polished floor. The open book lies flat, ready for the service, with the heavy wooden cover propped against the desk's edge. one drop of moisture rests on the lower corner of the glass pane, marking the boundary between the cool interior and the warm air beyond.
