Nigiri Sushi Platter on Bamboo Mat

Pale marble surfaces host a centered arrangement of nigiri sushi resting on a woven bamboo mat. Eight pieces sit in two neat rows, their rice grains glistening with moisture under the broad skylight. The fish toppings display a spectrum of colors, from the deep orange of salmon to the translucent white of sea bass, each piece capped with a thin strip of nori or a smear of wasabi. Dust motes drift visibly through the shafts of light bouncing off the pale cafe walls, catching the late afternoon glow. The bamboo strips cast fine, linear shadows across the rice, while the cool season air leaves the marble surface slightly cool to the eye. One grain of rice sits abandoned near the edge of the mat, its white curve contrasting against the dark bamboo weave.
