Night Poster Tube Cubby Damascus Street Reflections in along a storefront glass line on a wet street in Damascus

Night Poster Tube Cubby Damascus Street Reflections

by Joel Phillips

Late autumn darkness presses against the storefront glass, softened only by the harsh white spill of strip lights from the checkout lanes inside. A row of cardboard poster tubes sits snugly in their cubby slots, their muted beige surfaces against the wet, dark asphalt visible through the window. The glass acts as a mirror, superimposing the interior shelving over the reflection of the empty street outside. Polished floor tiles inside catch the overhead glare, sending sharp, horizontal streaks of light across the surface. Rain-slicked pavement outside creates a dark, liquid texture that mirrors the rigid geometry of the tubes. One red safety reflector on a nearby pole bleeds a faint crimson edge across the lower right corner of the glass pane.
