Neon Fog Feather Cairo Window
by Rachael Rose
Vibrant orange and white feather barbs dominate the foreground, their intricate hooklets catching the glow of distant neon signs. The texture is sharp and tactile, revealing individual fibers against a backdrop of a frost-edged windowpane. Below, a thick layer of fog fills exactly the lower third of the frame, stopping abruptly at a knife-sharp horizontal line that separates the mist from the clear air above. Through the glass, the faint, glowing lights of Cairo's City of the Dead begin to illuminate the early autumn night. Tiny dust particles hover near the feather, suspended in the stillness. The frost forms delicate, crystalline patterns along the window edge, against the smooth, glowing surface of the glass. One dark shadow falls across the bottom of the feather barb.
