Rust speckles the heavy steel pin securing the side gate of a weathered stock trailer parked beside a red-dirt pasture in Mozambique. The pin rests horizontally in a rusted receiver, its metal surface dull under the diffuse light of heavy overcast skies. Behind the gate, faint outlines of young livestock stand still in the cool season air, their coats blending with the muted earth tones of the landscape. The trailer's corrugated metal walls show layers of dust and faded paint, while the latch mechanism itself remains the central focus, sturdy and utilitarian. Shadows fall softly across the ground, lacking harsh edges due to the cloud cover.
