Medieval Hinge Straps on Sydney Nightstand

Honey-colored light from a western window spills across a dark wood bedside table, illuminating two hand-forged iron hinge straps. The metal surfaces, dark and textured with hammer marks, catch sharp, bright highlights where the low sun strikes the polished edges. The straps lie flat, their curved ends resting against the smooth grain of the table. Shadows stretch long and soft across the surface, showing the thickness of the iron against the slender wood. The turn of the season is visible in the cool, angled quality of the light that washes over the objects, creating a quiet, solitary stillness. A small, bright reflection glints off the rusted corner of the lower hinge.
