Iron Door Knocker on Weathered Oak Near Veraval
by Mason Jones
Tropical bright light floods the late morning, highlighting the rough, dark texture of a hand-forged iron door knocker mounted on a thick, weathered oak door. The iron bears the irregular marks of the hammer, its surface dull against the sun. Gray clouds hang low, softening the harshness of the sky while casting a gentle, diffuse glow over the scene. The oak grain runs vertically, deep and cracked with age, showing layers of sun-bleached gray and darkened crevices. A few small, dry leaves rest against the bottom edge of the door, caught in the stillness. The knocker sits slightly off-center, casting a sharp, dark shadow that falls across the wood's uneven surface. A small chip of paint peels near the mounting bracket, revealing the bare metal beneath.
