Measuring Tape in Hyderabad

A bright late morning sun slants through the lattice windows of a Hyderabad haveli, illuminating a dusty wooden table where a pair of hands carefully adjusts a brass measuring tape. The metal links of the tape catch the sharp light, against the worn, dark wood grain and the faded red ink marks of previous measurements. In the background, a white dog rests on a cool stone floor, its fur glowing softly in the shaft of sunlight that cuts across the room. A small, chipped clay tumbler sits near the edge of the table, reflecting the distorted shape of the window lattice in its curved surface.
