Mist rests on the metal edges of a loading ramp shelf in Barbados, where petri dishes sit ready for the morning herd checks. The wet season air hangs heavy, softening the red clay ground below into a slick, dark surface. Wind whips the plastic covers of the culture plates, their agar surfaces gleaming with condensation under the diffused dawn light. Separated by equipment, dairy, poultry, swine, and calf workflows wait in organized silence. The low angle emphasizes the height of the ramp against the pale sky, at the base of the scene in the patience of pre-dawn labor. one drop of moisture traces a path down the side of the nearest glass dish, catching the faint gray light before vanishing into the shelf's shadow.
