Mason Tools on Kunming Museum Plinth at Sunset

Honey-colored light spills across a white museum plinth, illuminating a steel trowel and a square mortar board. The metal surfaces reflect the warm glow, while the mortar board holds a smear of gray residue. Shadows stretch long from the objects toward the corners, where lamplight begins to settle in the dimming room. The tools rest flat, their handles aligned with the plinth's edge. Dust particles float in the shafts of light, settling on the rough texture of the board. A faint shadow of the trowel blade falls across the mortar, marking the boundary between the two tools. The light fades slowly, leaving the objects in quiet stillness.
