Pale winter light reflects off the wet surface of a frozen lake, illuminating a young girl with freckled cheeks as she laughs. Her face glows against the gray, overcast sky, framed by the converging lines of a snow-covered embankment leading toward her. She wears a thick, dark coat and a wool hat pulled low, her breath invisible in the cold, damp air. Fine droplets of drizzle coat her eyelashes and the fabric of her jacket, creating a textured sheen on the wool. The ground is a mix of packed ice and slush, marked by faint footprints that trail into the distance. The water behind her mirrors the sky, blurring the horizon line. one drop of water rests on the edge of her mitten, trembling before falling.
