Early winter rain slicks the sun-bleached plaster wall behind a young shepherd girl standing at the frame's edge. Fine water droplets rest on her dark hair and the rough fabric of her coat, darkening the texture where the light hits. The dry mountain light of late afternoon falls across her face, revealing a steady gaze directed away from the camera.
