Laser Beam on Dark Optical Table in La Guaira Lab
by Isaac Lucero
A sharp, crimson line of laser light cuts horizontally across a matte black optical table, illuminating floating dust particles in the soft, diffused glow of an overcast afternoon. The beam originates from a compact silver device clamped to the left edge, its metallic surface reflecting the muted gray light filtering through the wet season haze outside. Scattered across the dark workbench are small brass adjustment knobs and a coiled black cable resting near the beam's path. Deep, quiet shadows pool along the rough concrete walls in the background, showing the stillness of the disciplined experiment. The crimson glow ends abruptly against a stack of gray engineering manuals, where the light fades into the texture of the paper. A faint reflection of the beam shimmers on a nearby glass cover slip.
