Flat noon glare washes the dry, early winter ground where fine dust hangs low above the surface. A wide panoramic view shows a procession of figures in saffron robes moving along the edge of a circular sacred pool. The monks walk in single file, their orange garments stark against the pale, arid mountain backdrop. Shadows fall directly beneath their feet, indicating the high sun. The pool water reflects the clear sky, bordered by rough stone coping. Fine particles of dust suspend in the air, creating a hazy veil that softens the distant ridges. The group advances slowly against the rugged terrain, their movement the only shift in the stillness. at the edge is the sharp edge of a sandal stepping into the dry dust.
