A weathered wooden ladder-back chair sits on a damp stone balcony in Amman, its slats glistening under the soft, gray light of early morning. Rainwater pools in the shallow depression of the seat, reflecting the pale sky and the blurred outlines of distant white limestone buildings. The wood is stained with age and moisture, showing deep cracks where the finish has worn away near the armrests. One droplet rests on the curved top rail, ready to fall onto the wet tiles below.
