A street vendor sharpens a blade on a wet pavement corner in Fez el-Jdid. Steam rises from a nearby glass bus shelter, fogging the panels against the cool early autumn air. The ground reflects the warm glow of distant town lights beginning to illuminate the horizon. Fine rain droplets rest on the metal handle of the sharpener and the vendor's dark coat. Rough stone walls frame the narrow alley, against the smooth, slick asphalt. A wooden crate sits nearby, holding tools in muted earth tones. The vendor's hands move steadily along the stone wheel, while a puddle at their feet mirrors the soft, amber street lamps flickering above.
