Under the flat, shadowless glare of a Venetian noon, a small corner of a historic kitchen reveals a lived-in work surface where daily sustenance unfolds. A faded blue enamel sink holds a colander of glistening sardines, their silver scales catching the diffuse light against the dull ceramic. Beside them, a wooden cutting board bears the marks of recent use, resting near a cluster of spice tins and a half-open jam jar with a sticky rim. A floral apron hangs loosely from a hook on the tiled wall, its fabric soft against the hard, glossy white tiles that reflect the bright daylight.
