Jungle vines overgrow Fukuoka floating market boat
by Sofia Conway
Thick emerald jungle vines cascade from the upper right, swallowing half the wooden hull of a Fukuoka auction boat while the other half remains a bustling commercial space. Copper-toned light from the pre-dusk sky reflects off the calm river water, illuminating crates of fresh seafood and stacks of crates on the dry deck. The vines, dense and leafy, drape over the auctioneer's platform, their roots gripping the timber as if the forest grew overnight. Clear blue sky arches above the impossible fusion of river commerce and wild growth. Wooden beams support the structure, partially obscured by the thick greenery. The contrast between the orderly market goods and the chaotic, vibrant vegetation creates a surreal landscape where nature reclaims human industry in a single afternoon.
