A Japanese Akita stands centered in a small, clipped yard near Varanasi, its thick double coat catching the calm, diffuse light of an overcast afternoon. The dog's distinctive curled tail and triangular ears frame a broad, fox-like muzzle with a serious expression. Behind the animal, a low wall runs along the property line, separating the green grass from a glimpse of a weathered brick structure. To the right, a half-open wooden sash window reveals a dark interior, against the bright exterior. The ground shows slight wear where the grass meets the soil, and a simple metal ring lies near the curb.
