Jacaranda Boulevard Blooming Purple on BC Cliff in along a salt-sprayed cliff edge in British Columbia

Jacaranda Boulevard Blooming Purple on BC Cliff

by Serena MacDonald

Flat noon light washes the street in a harsh, white glare that bleaches color from the asphalt. A row of jacaranda trees lines the boulevard, their canopies dense with vibrant violet blooms that contrast sharply against the gray sky. Snowflakes drift slowly through the air, settling on the purple petals and the dark pavement below. The road stretches straight ahead, flanked by a steep cliff edge on the right where salt spray has weathered the stone into rough, pale textures. Layers of depth recede as the trees repeat in diminishing scale, their shadows short and distinct beneath the hard overhead sun. The violet leaves catch the light, appearing almost translucent at the edges, while the white snow creates a stark, silent texture against the deep purple foliage.
