Warm candlelight glows against the predawn darkness of a hotel room in Oslo. A pair of silver ice skates hangs suspended from a small nail on the edge of a polished wooden dresser. Condensation beads along the nearby window glass, blurring the cold winter night outside. The leather straps of the skates show signs of wear, and the metal blades reflect the flickering flame. Shadows stretch across the dark wood grain, highlighting the texture of the surface. A small puddle of melted snow sits at the base of the skates, slowly darkening the wood beneath them. The light catches the curve of the skate blades, creating sharp, bright highlights against the dim room.
