Harvester Header Wash at Lagos Tea Plantation Dusk

Twilight blue washes over a large combine harvester header resting on a wet concrete wash pad at the edge of a tea plantation. Water sheets off the jagged metal teeth and dark rubber rollers, reflecting the distant orange glow of Lagos Island town lights on the horizon. The soil beneath the machinery is dark and churned, against the clean, slick surface of the washing station. Layers of green tea bushes recede into the background, their leaves muted in the fading light. One puddle near the front axle mirrors the soft, diffuse sky. The metal frame stands heavy and still, its industrial lines softened by the approaching night and the humid, clear air of the turning season.
