Harvester Header Washing at Twilight
Deep shadows swallow the massive metal header of a combine harvester as it sits at the edge of a Latvian tea plantation. A sharp rim of cool twilight light traces the jagged teeth of the cutting mechanism, separating the dark silhouette from the fading sky. Wet droplets rest on the rusted steel, evidence of the recent storm clearing overhead. Beside the machine, the low angle reveals rows of dormant tea bushes, their dry brown leaves carpeting the damp earth. The heavy machinery rests on mud that reflects the last gray hues of the day, while a faint dusting of dry soil rests on the lower chassis. One puddle near the tire shows a distorted reflection of the overcast horizon.
