Heavy theatrical spotlights cut through a haze of dust particles, illuminating a musician seated in a darkened booth. The subject holds a silver harmonica to his lips, fingers poised around the instrument. Behind him, the curved back of the booth seat is upholstered in worn dark fabric, showing signs of heavy use. The lighting creates stark highlights on the metal of the harmonica and casts deep shadows across the musician's face. Through the window behind the booth, the sky appears as a uniform, heavy grey mass, suggesting late spring overcast conditions despite the indoor setting. The texture of the wood trim along the booth frame is rough and unfinished. One reflection of the spotlight gleams on the polished brass edge of the harmonica.
