Gulls Trail Tractor in Plowed Mexico City Field

Honeyed evening light wraps a freshly plowed field in Santa Maria la Ribera, casting long shadows across the turned earth. Heavy overcast skies hang low, diffusing the sun into a soft, warm glow that highlights the texture of the furrows. A slow tractor moves steadily through the soil, its dark metal body against the pale dust. A flock of gulls follows closely behind, their white wings fluttering just above the ground as they hunt for insects. Orchard ladders and wooden crates stand scattered near the field's edge, suggesting recent harvest activity. The dry season leaves the ground bare and cracked in places. Leading lines formed by the tractor tracks draw toward the horizon where the sky meets the distant trees. One shadow from a crate stretches across the furrows, marking the time of day.
