Gnarled Ceiba Tree in Merida

A gnarled ceiba tree stands rooted in the damp earth of a Merida courtyard, its thick trunk anchoring the scene against the soft gray light of misty dawn. Rough, gray bark textured with deep fissures absorbs the diffused morning moisture, while low-hanging roots spread across the wet soil like tangled fingers. Surrounding the base, vibrant green ferns unfurl their fronds, glistening with tiny water droplets that reflect the pale sky above. One fallen leaf rests on the muddy ground, its veins outlined in sharp relief against the dark, saturated earth.
