Gate Entrance in Hong Kong

A narrow corridor in a dense Hong Kong residential block is dominated by a heavy steel security gate, its surface scratched and painted in faded institutional green. Resting on the concrete step just inside the threshold is a worn leather shoe brush, bristles matted with gray dust, leaning against a pair of rubber slippers. Above, a tangled web of air conditioning units and security cameras protrudes from the wall, casting flat, shadowless noon light across the scene. The gate handle is a simple, rusted iron loop, cold and utilitarian. To the right, a small patch of yellowing paint reveals layers of older coats beneath.
