Frost Crystals on Window Before Dusk Near Berlin

by Kristy Tapia

Copper-toned light spills across a glass pane where delicate frost crystals have formed intricate geometric patterns. The sharp edges of the ice catch the fading warmth, creating a stark contrast against the heavy, grey overcast sky visible through the frame. Beyond the window, fast-moving cloud bands streak horizontally, their dark undersides hinting at the approaching storm. The midsummer air seems paradoxically cold enough to freeze moisture instantly on the surface. Layers of depth recede from the sharp, textured foreground of ice into the soft, blurred motion of the distant clouds. One jagged branch of ice extends from the corner, catching the last glow of the day.
