Rain-slicked asphalt reflects the pale, diffuse glow of early morning as a street vendor balances a heavy enamel basin on a wooden cart. The basin, scarred by years of use, holds a cluster of bright red chilies and green coriander, their wet surfaces catching the soft light. Beside the produce, a coiled yellow rubber hose and a stack of white ceramic plates sit ready for the day's rush. A customer in a soaked raincoat extends a hand, fingers brushing the cool ceramic, while the vendor’s other hand grips a worn cloth napkin to wipe condensation from a glass tumbler.
