Foggy Harbor Station Clock at Dawn in beside a fogbound harbor mouth in Yorkshire

Foggy Harbor Station Clock at Dawn

by Mary Thomas

Mist rests on the ground where heavy iron girders form a vaulted ceiling over the station platform. A large analog clock face, framed in dark metal, hangs prominently against the grey sky, its hands frozen in the early hour. Low clouds drift through the open ends of the structure, obscuring the harbor mouth beyond. Late autumn leaves scatter across the wet stone floor, their brown and orange hues muted by the diffused light. Dust particles hang suspended in the air, catching the pale glow. Converging lines of the ironwork guide toward the distant, indistinct horizon where the sea meets the sky. The clock’s glass reflects the faint, cool light, showing the stillness of the moment.
