Floating Ink Brush in La Paz Room
Midmorning light falls through sheer curtains, illuminating floating dust motes that hang suspended in shafts of golden air. A calligraphy master sits on a plush velvet chair, their hand holding a traditional brush poised inches above a hanging scroll. Gravity has partially failed here; a heavy ceramic inkstone hovers beside the master's knee, while droplets of black ink drift upward in perfect spheres before touching the paper. The red velvet fabric of the chair drapes normally, but the wooden floor beneath seems to tilt slightly as if reacting to the levitating objects. Fine particles of gold dust from the inkstone scatter in the light beams, creating a glittering cloud around the floating brush tip. The ink pools on the scroll surface without spreading, defying the usual pull of the liquid.
